Our very good friend back home on the East Coast has recently got into surfing and skateboarding. Not trick boarding like the kids do. No. Longboarding like mature men do. It's strictly a mode of adult transportation. Or so Dim convinced me. Since we live in a landlocked state, surfing was sort of out of the question for Dim to pick up. Instead our friend peer pressured Dim into getting a skateboard; which he did.
I have to say that I am pretty surprised that Dim has picked it up so quickly. Since we live on base, Dim's commute to work is only four minutes. It takes him eight minutes to skate to work. Dim is living out his teenage dream of having a skateboard. His parents would never let him have one. They kind of suck(ed).
Anyway, I'm thinking that Boomba will grow up asking for the latest gear for his skateboard every Christmas and birthday. Which makes me nervous. I was worried enough about Dim breaking his arms. (Those hands are our bread and butter, you know!) If Boomba decides that he wants to be just like daddy, I'm going to make sure we have a lifetime supply of bubble wrap in stock.
